Indiana State Fair Pumpkin Weigh-off

          It's official well sort of.  The Indiana will be sponsoring a giant pumpkin weigh-off with good prize monies this year.  Amounts, dates and time are still being finalized.  Today I spoke with Jim Cole, the state fair coordinator, who assured me giant pumpkins have been added to the agenda for this year.  They are very excited about it actually.  Get this !!  They are planning a 22ft. long float with a giant manufactured pumpkin in the middle.  It will be displayed every day of fair in their parade.  Expect first place to be from $500-1000.  Also expect the weigh-off to be one of their kick-off events in the first few days of the fair.  This will put the weigh-off in EARLY August.  So plants your seeds accordingly.  It will be an open class competition available to anyone.
