Negative ,,,,, Each grower has his or her own preference ....... Some do, some don't. There are different reasons ....
Soil conditions, Fert. etc.
For me, I only do it to make a big basket under the main stump out of avery wire to protect it from gophers ....I double the wire over and line the
entire pit. I also have to use wire under the entire main vine ....... Not easy that's for sure, but it works for me ..
