Re: So do some people dig pits ????

   George.
The aeration system again is Quickly, Three 4 foot pieces of French tubing fixed in a "U" shape so that all parts are connected. This continuation increases the oxygen concentration I believe 70%Over streight stagnant pipes. Holes are drilled on the inside of the vertical stand pipes and at the bottom of the lateral. The holes have to be drilled large and numerous. Say bigger around than a pencil. Since I only had one last year I put the plant between the risers but if I had my choice I would place them in my large mound every 4 feet. One against the back of the mound one four feet in front of that, one at eight feet one at 12 feet and one in the front at sixteen feet.
Oddly enough the lateral pipe at the end of the season had no soil in it and I had no water build up. Worked pretty darn good. I will head to the irrigation supply store when I can to see how much it will cost to finish the aeration system and also to get the 610 feet of 3/4 inch pipe to put irrigation in my garden and the rest of the back yard. Probably going underleaf this year in hopes to battle powdery mildew !!!!
If you want a complete description of the aeration system check the archives I believe in 2000 or early 2001.. Take care all..

Kevin Smith.. Cant wait for the season to start so I can relax !!!!!!!!!
