Actually we don't have vine borers out west. What I've
heard is that anyone west of the Rockies doesn't need
to worry. I guess in Montana you're either technically
in the Rockies or east of the Rockies... My bet would
be that you don't have them. Check with a local county
extension service to be sure.

You probably will have cucumber beetles...

Mike,

You may have Vine Borer and your neighbor (down the street) may not. You
will not know until you plant a pumpkin (squash / cucumberit type) plant,
then it may be too late. It doesn't really matter what area of the country
you are from. That's why it is a good recommendation to use the Warrior T
or Scimitar as a preventative (before you know you have Vine Borer). I have
struggled many years with trying to control the Vine Borer and lost many a
good pumpkin (in the middle of August when they are really growing) due to
the secondary problems brought on by the Vine Borer (weakened plant,
disease, etc.).
