I grew the Weir 1260 in 2003 and it produced a very nice dark orange.

I've been wondering the same thing myself... nothing in the 1370's
background would suggest that color. Not even the 846 (IMHO). The
846 gives nice color but not THAT nice color.
You might want to ask this over at bigpumpkins.com. I think Jerry
hangs out over there.
Matt, did you move from Utah to Oregon?

I cannot envision 935 as a pollinator accentuating bright orange color
under any circumstance. The 1260x712 cross is of course full of 935 on
both sides, and should not be throwing such good consistent color as it
is. Color from that cross must be coming from the 846 in the 1260. But
even then one would think bright colored offspring would be an outlying
result, rather than a consistent result. Someone with a better
understanding of Mendellian genetics may overrule me on that.
There is a theory out there that Jerry did have a fast growing 801 Stelts
in his patch in 2003 and that maybe he mistakenly pollinated the 1260 with
it, thinking it was the 712. (If so, his mistakes are better than my
planned crosses! lol) Now I'll only believe that if I hear it from Jerry,
but it sure would explain the consistency of the color of 1370 offspring...
Maybe Jerry is on this list and will comment...until then, we'll have to
assume it is 1260x712, with the idea that color is coming from the 846.

its offspring would be cream-colored, perhaps with a touch of green/gray
undertones. (1260 Weir (845X846) X 712 Kuhn (935X780). Why, then, are so
many of the 1370 offspring bright orange? If I had to guess what the
pollinator for Jerry's 1370 was just by looking at the offspring, I'd say
that it was the 1016 Daletas or maybe the 846 Jutras or something. Is it
wrong to think that the best way to produce orange pumpkins is to cross
two orange parents? Is there something about having 935 and other
"squashy" pumpkins as pollinators that actually accentuates the orange
trait? (take a look at the 560 King as a second example).
