I have used a blue tarp. My Uncle used a plywood on top of a frame.

Sounds like your a pro all ready...... I hope it doesn't rain.

Is a green net better than black? blue tarp? bed sheet?

Provide shade which protects the pumpkin skin and keeps the
rain away from the surrounding soil next to the pumpkin. I prefer
to keep the soil dry near my pumpkin. In addition, make sure your material can repel
the water.

Review this home page for building a shade structure.
