AGPVS


Hello to our world wide pumpkin friends.

As you might know the Australian Giant Pumpkin & Vegetable Society Inc (a 
non-profit group) was formed in 1996 by a group of Australian giant pumpkin 
enthusiasts, consisting of long time competitors, State and Australian 
champions, primarily to reduce competition costs ( the rate of exchange is a 
prohibiting factor when dealing with overseas groups, making costs one third 
to one half more expensive than our overseas counterparts dependent on the 
Australian dollar)
and hopefully create more competition and further the intrest of giant 
pumpkin growing in Australia.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank all those people and groups 
who have offered encouragement and support and look forward to further 
liasison between individuals and groups in the future.
The society is not affiliated with any other weighing group, but we plan to 
run our competitions to the high standard of competition, which is run in 
different competitions overseas and in Australia in the past.
As the society is in its early infancy, 1997 will see two weighing sites, 
both sites have never signed agreements in the past with other groups, so it 
will be a new experiance for many involved, one we are looking forward to 
greatly.
 The 1998 season is already being planned with new sites already well and 
truly in the pipeline.

The society has released its first update and seed bank information.
