Re: a rototiller question for all those gardeners out there-reply

Janet:

I have a Troy-Built mini-tiller, which looks like a Mantis type cultivator. It
has tines that can be changed to accommodate rocky soil or clay type soil, or
soil with matted weeds, etc.

It looks light duty, but it is an aggressive tiller with enough power and dig
in to handle a home garden easily. I laughed when my husband brought it home,
but was surprised how effortlessly it turned over St. Augustine grass in my
backyard. (St. Augustine grass is the popular FL turf that grows thick, dense
grass from underground rhizomes).

If you plan on having a garden patch 25 X 40 feet or so, a tiller of this type
might work well for you. Can't beat the price, and they are only 25 pounds or
so. A great way to till without having to have the upper body strength of an
athlete.

Good luck.
