First of all, I would like to address everybody on the list who can walk
and chew gum at the same time (or, as the case may be, talk pumpkins and
have fun at the same time): PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... no matter what
happens, please feel free to cc: me with any of your correspondences any
time. I enjoy the banter immensely. I am also crazed about pumpkins,
but it would be pretty dull if we couldn't have fun along the way. So,
MARV, ZOO, WAYNE, BARB, PUMPKINWITCH (where are you anyway?), GEORGE,
RICK, PATRICK and EVERYBODY ELSE: Don't forget me! I like to have a
good time!
Second. Duncan, I have tried never to tell you what to do. I am deeply
grateful that the list exists and that I could just subscribe with no
effort and learn and listen and enjoy. Now, however, I am going to
make a suggestion. Please bear in mind that I am clueless about how
much work is involved, but ....... Why not have TWO lists??? The
pumpkin social list and the straight pumpkin-growing, no jokes, list.
There are clearly two camps here and they are becoming hostile. I
strongly believe that regattas and pumpkin associations and zoo doo and
swan neck hoes are important contributions to the pumpkin community and
so do a lot of other people. There has been an outpouring of that
sentiment. I can see, though, that others haven't the temperament or
the patience for it. Would two lists be possible?
"Duncan, do this." and "Duncan, do that." really isn't my style, and
I apologize for making a suggestion now. I may be naive, but why CAN'T
we make everybody happy? What resources would it take, anyway, and
how could we all help?
Beth
