Been waiting all week to receive the out come of my soil test taken for the
second time one in fall and now one in the spring......i was curious to
know how serious the leaching had been after 50 inches of rain...........My
Organic matter was 6 in the fall and I added a 12 more yards to 3000sq ft
back then too to boost it a little now the O.M still is 6 ....nitrogen and
phos dropped as so did sodium and sulfur....... zinc and maganeese and iron
went up......
the fertility guidelines said add phos. Nitro. and a little
sulfur...................need to listen to a few others thoughts on good
sources for these three....???????????????????????????????????.......thanks
brock
Phosphorous: ? usually doesn’t leach readily. A good commercial fertilizer
is fine. I haven’t added any for 3 years because mine is very high.
Nitrogen: Manure moderately fast release source. Urea if you have a good
supply of organic material to hold it in the soil, it is an instant release
type. Fish meal is a slow release type.
Sulfur: Never have to add that around here you must be out West, I’m assuming
your pH is high. Pure sulfur I would think should be the best.
