Greetings all,
For those of you unfamiliar with Oregon Updates, you are surely new, and in
for a treat. Most of what goes in to an Oregon update is trivial and
uninteresting, so if you don't like that sort of stuff, hit delete, for the
others who like a good pumpkin update and some humor read on and on.
Site #1 The #866 Mombert Not yet planted, but surely ready, this seed will
produce a 750 pound pumpkin. Was able to get on this site due to its
incredibly fast drainage. Soil worked up well, and I have high hopes.
Site #2 The 900.5 Lyons former WR Squash, Not yet planted either. ;-( This
site will receive the least amount of sunlight, so we shall see if that makes
a difference.
Site #3 The #909.5 Lloyd I like this seed for some reason, I got a feelin
oooh baby.
Site #4 #910 Nelson or 804 Zehr, or 836 Craven, or 449 Marcellus, or 697
Ciliberto, or 825 Shymanski, or my very own 469. not sure what seed to go
with yet. For those of you out there who I sent a #469 Hester 97 to, plant
one, the test germinations were very promising.
Site #5 #676 LaRue produced the #1016 nice number, saw the plant and fruit
and wow. I'm there.
Site #6 Tough call, #792 Holland or the #827. I like em both.
Other giant veggies this year.... Tall Corn, kohlrobi, sunflowers, beets,
cabbage, rutebegas, squash, tomatoes, and few more.
As a note, if someone out there has a a #567.5 Mombert seed please let me
know, I want one for the #827 x #567.5 cross. I will bid against anyone for
that seed. I might even trade my car for it.
Take care, and good luck in 1998, and Ottowa growers be prepared, the PNWGPG
will not settle for second this year..... LOL I'll put up 5 pounds of Oregons
best filberts.
