Sounds like a good guy. Does he know about the GPC, or is he just growing for
the sheer fun of it (I guess if he has enough money to buy all that mushroom
compost he doesn't need to compete)? He has some interesting ideas. I have
grown pumpkins on the side of a small hill to allow roots to grow along the front
side of the fruit that was on my 581.5 (split) in '97. Maybe having the roots
very close to the fruit allows a local supply of root produced hormones to
directly influence and promote the fruit. Grew into December without the leaves,
must have had some sugars stored in the vines. I will have to get in touch with
him. Those measurements are awesome.
