Just wanted to see what kind of germination rates I'd get from my seeds
I got from my 850 last year, since it died early. Tried something
totally new, and had great results. We raise Arabian horses, so I took a
black feed bucket(24") tall and placed 3' fresh manure with straw in the
bottom, then 1" sand over it. Placed 4 seeds in small peat pots on top
of this. Placed small grow light on top of pail, about 20" above seeds,
and then put garbage bag over all to stop oder from escaping. Tis worked
"fantastic", and in 36" hours I had first seed breaking soil. Put
thermometer in manure and it read 96 degrees. Never would have figured
it would heat up that high so quickly. 3 out of 4 seeds germinated w/i
72 hours. Wife thought I was nuts and didn't like manure in house, but
with bag over it, there was no smell until bag came off.Pumpkinpiper
