These are my questions:
1. Is it possible given my size limitation?
2. Will the vines overrun the rest of my vegetable garden? (and
backyard?)
3. Is it better to have a square or a rectangular area?

My personal preference would be 20x25, mainly because I like to get some
length on the main vine and allow room for at least 10ft side vines on each
side of main.
Going with a square wouldn't change the dimensions that much. Approximately
22.5x22.5
I just wouldn't feel comfortable with less than 20ft. width.
Your intentions are to grow 80-150lb. pumpkin. You may see that, 2or3 weeks
after pollination and perhaps double that a week later.
I have had several 4-500 pounders in less than 500 sq. ft.
We had a 768 pounder at Altoona weighoff last year, grown in 400 sq ft.
Good luck,,,,don't rule out a killer pumpkin
