In looking at information from The Nepga's most recent newsletter and Mike
Nepereny's CucuByte database, I would have to agree with Pumpkinguy about the
pollinate anywhere on the vine theory...............Howard Dill's 881 pound
monster was only 4 feet out on the main vine, which pretty much goes against
all the generally accepted "rules".My nieghbor's favorite expression when it
comes to plants and rules-"A plants gonna do what a plants gonna
do............plants don't read books".---Glenn
SO, ONLY 4' OUT ON MAIN VINE. WOW. SO IT LOOKS LIKE DILL POLLENATES
THE FIRST FEMALE FLOWER. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO
WAIT UNTIL THE PLANT WAS BIG--300 LEAVES PLUS, AND THEN ALLOW THE
PUMPKIN TO STAY ON THE VINE.
HOW MANY OF THE BIG ONES ARE FARTHER OUT (SET WHEN PLANT IS BIG)
COMPARED TO CLOSER IN (STARTING WHEN PLANT IS SMALL)
BURKE 1092? MACKENZIE 1010, S 1056, MOMBERT PUMPKINS, LARUES, ETC.
