Re: Light for pumpkins

John
Being a grower in Central Ca, it gets quite hot here. This last growing
season 93 degree avg. Many days above 100 Two days at 114. Misters
help, but the plants slows it growth and seems to grow much more during
the night time 65 - 70 degrees, which makes irrigation difficult. I have
tried shading the plant it works ok, wouldn't go more than 30% shade
coverage. Being a turkey grower we use lights to stimulate and fool
turkey's ( which is not hard to do) in thinking the days are longer thus
increasing wt gains and efficiency). I think light definetely plays a
roll, but wonder if light angle and intensity play a factor as well. Of
course you need the right type of light. I would say it might add to
your electric bill.
