I'm replying to my original question regarding the spending of $80 on a
Geert's seed. I know why, literally, people feel they need to spend that.
But, there are so many other great stocks out there with proven genes, that
are just as likely to gorw a great pumkpin....at a fraction of the cost.
Like someone said, the Geerts also fathered 400 small pumpkins last year.
Putting $80 on one seed is like not spending any real effort looking at what
other "smaller" pumkpins out there have equally strong genetics. I mean
absolutely no offense to those spending that money.....just expressing my
opinion and perhaps promoting the idea of studying "hard" regarding
genetics. The sees need not come from a big pumpkin to father/mother a big
pumpkin. Lookat the Donker 490 for instance, which produced a approx. 1100
pumpkin, and undoutdetly that seed was free. These are the driving thoughts
behind my question, "Why spend $80"
