Questions

Hey! I'm back!

And I have 10 peat pots sitting in my window sills with some great seeds
-- thanks Wayne K. No store bought seeds for me this year!

I have expanded my patch considerably... rather than having 3 plants in
a 4' x 6' garden, I'm going to put 1 or 2 plants in a 35' x 10'
patch. I know, that's still crowded but I'm trying...

Anyway, I hope I can have some help with a few questions:

1. When is horse manure hot? I know, I know... when it comes out of
the animal's arse, but seriously, when is horse poop composted well
enough to throw into the patch? My neighbour has three horses and
lots-o-poop. She showed me where in her manure pile I could find the
stuff from last year. It crumbles apart like dust and looks like dried
grass. Is this suitable for the garden?

2. Last year I had bookmarked a site (I think it was at mindspring)
that listed the progeny of many seeds -- it had great family trees set
up. When I head to the site now, I am told that the URL cannot be
found. Whose website is (was) this? Has it moved? Is anyone else
tracking this information?

3. Anyone out there growing the MacKenzie 1010?

4. Does anyone out there have the actual formula for estimating the
weight of pumpkins (circumference and/or OTT)? I have a math teacher
friend who is interested. Also, is there a range of weights that it
works for?

5. How about the Pumpkin Pool we had last year? Did everything work
out? After I gave the winners and donors each others' email addresses,
I bowed out for the season. Did everybody get their prizes? Did the
pottery from Italy get shipped? Was everyone happy? Should another one
be organized?
