The Saga Begins
The great pumpkin growing adventure begins! My seeds
have sprouted. After initial germination problems
with 947 and 760 Patrick seeds, one of each finally
sprouted.
My final germination percentage is 78% or 7 out of 9.
Two Patrick seeds failed to sprout. Next year I'll
try sanding the seeds to try to improve the odds. I
also noted that two plants damaged themselves while
pulling out of the seed cover. Edge sanding might
reduce the chances for the cover to tear the emerging
plant.
Up and looking good are the 850 Hester, 846 Calai, 937
Mombert, two 875 Dill, 947 Patrick and 760 Patrick.
I've started a growers log to chronicle this year's
growing saga. The first chapter is complete and can
