Re: Root Bound Seedlings - Advice Needed


Sorry, Rocky, I beg to differ.  A couple of years ago I cooked some 
seedlings in a cloche when external temp was low 80's.  The sun came out and 
cooked those babes in a hurry.  It was like a sauna in there.

My cloche was not vented, not did it have any sort of temperature control.  
But in daytime temps of 70's(?) or above, I wouldn't think a cloche would be 
necessary at all.  And higher temps could cause problems unless you are 
there monitoring it all the time, ready to open it up.

On the other hand, I set out a brand new seedling in its pot yesterday (92 
degrees) so it could get some sun and it seemed to thrive on it.  It wasn't 
covered or anything, and didn't overheat the way it would have in a closed 
cloche.

I hope some more experienced growers will weigh in on this...
