Re: Cucumber beetle or not?
Steve said
Casey, the previous post from Bill that said they were cuke beetles is
WRONG. (As you apparently already found out). Like I said cuke beetles are
yellow, with black dots or stripes. They do not change color as adults. They
are soil dwelling larvae in juvenile stage, and as adults, always are
yellow(ish) with black dots or stripes.
I won't give out bad information to anyone, and if I am not sure of
something, I will say so. I hope that others here have the same standards, I
know 99% do.
As for your beetle/bug in question, if you can get some pictures of it, I
can try to I.D. it for you. They could be a species of lady beetle, which
are beneficial. You wouldn't want to go kill them off with Seven, for sure.
So if you can get some close pictures, please do that A.S.A.P.

Well Steve - I have cuc Beetles that fit Caseys description exactly - so
could it be that you are WRONG!
Casey - do not wait till they shred your plant as it would not take much
chewing to kill a young pumpkin seedling this time of the year.
How big are your plants?
I do not know this Steve fellow as I am new to the list.
Is he a bug expert?
Brian
