Germinating Temperatures


Here is a bit of quasi-scientific trivia.

I did my germination this year in the picnic chest using Christmas tree 
lights for a heat source. (Will send schematic and parts list to anyone who 
sends me $50 and a SASE ;-) ]
I did the first batch at 83 degrees F. I was being conservative after cooking 
six great seeds last year. The seeds took seven days to come up.
I did the second batch at 90 degree F. Four days to come up.
Both groups had 24 hours in the wet paper towel in the baggie before 
planting. However, they were seeds fropm different parent stock.
Conclusion - Maybe 90 is better than 80. 90 degrees is definitely not too hot.
