Ontario Pumpkin

Hello All,

I have heard a lot of people waiting to put their plants into the ground
and here is my experience.

We are in zon 5b or 6a and our plants went out on May 1st. I simply put
an old tire around the seedling, and covered the tire with an old storm
window. It was opened during the day, and closed at night. When they
outgrew this arrangement I went to a bushel basket, which I draped an old
piece of burlap over.

If the wind was EXTREME I would cover them up, but for the most part they
were open all day long to the weather. But for all our heavy weather,
strong wind, and thunder storms they were there.

The plants are doing GREAT!!

We will start our true seasonal warm up in the next couple of weeks, and
these plants are poised to TAKE OFF.

No more frost protection for these plants as of 5/22/00.

Hope your plants are doing well, and are in the ground. Don't wait!
