Re: Pumpkin Reject Gift
Hello All,
I'm a first year pumpkin grower from Mississippi and am being "coached" by
Louisianaian Frank Milliken. I've visited his patch a couple of times over
the past couple of months. Frank got started early this year...so as to
beat the heat here in the south and see just how big we can grow'em here.
Anyway, Frank came up to my patch today and brought me his "reject"
pumpkin....pared it down to 2 pumpkins on a plant. His reject is 364 #'s.
He kept the 400 and 500 pounders. My wife plans to use his reject in
Vacation Bible School in our church next week.... in the meantime....I plan
on having a little fun with it.
I haven't been able to get a pumpkin to pollinate, yet, (all mine haved died
so far before the flower opens). Hopefully, I will be able to get one
pollinated shortly and grow one somewhere close to "Coach Milliken's"
Anyway, I see a lot of you are just now planting, so I thought you would be
interested.
