Last year in a 20X15 area we grew 3 50 plus lb pumpkins from two plants using
Burpee 100lb+ seeds. This year we are trying to grow an AG also. We planted
a 700-900 stock seed. At this point we have a 20ft primary three secondarys
and multiple tertiary vines. We have 20 plus male flowers and 4 female
flowers. One which we pollinated.... And are waiting to see results. We are
only growing this one plant in this space. Additionally, prior to fruit set
you may want to use High nitrogen based fertilzers, changing to balanced
fertilzers when fruit sets. Miracle grow is high in nitrogen and perfect for
starting plants.... But you may want to switch to Peter's Plant food or
another similar product with 20:20:20 when fruit sets. Use Sevin for the
Bugs (Bottom and top of leaves and saturate the soil). The drip system is
what we are using and has the benefit of limiting mosaic viruses etc. caused
by wet conditions. However from our experience the soil should be constantly
moist but not wet!! Adjust your watering based on weather condtions ( temp/
rainfall) not on time. Hopefully this will help.
Good Luck!!!
