Mental illness must run through the hobby

   List
A couple of months ago I was at the Elk Grove pumpkin seminar and had
a wonderful conversation with Pete Glasier. During this conversation Pete
said that he "had" to grow pumpkins it was in his blood and he felt that I
too was cut from the same cloth. Well, I think he may be right!!
The one thing that every successful grower has said in common was to study
as
much as you can on the subject. I think I may have hit OVERLOAD. Yes, I have
put maybe too much time in studying these incredible spheres and now
everything is coming out pumpkins.
Here is an example. I have my first alarm set at 4:35 (Grindle) then hit
the snooze the alarm comes back on at 4:49 (Marcellus) which gets me up. I
get out of the house and on to the road at 5:00 (est Reynolds) and arrive at
work on average at 5:53 (Kournikakas) to start work by 6:01 (Hester).  SEE
WHAT THIS STUDYING HAS DONE TO ME !!!!
I use comparisons and analogies that relate to pumpkins like !!
My friend had a sore arm I told him to "Manipulate it one inch at a time
after it has wormed up as not to damage it." or "referring to a child about
not eating too much Ice cream, You can have too much of a good thing you
know, like Nitrogen." which was replied to with only a deep confused stare!!!

If I buy something I find myself looking for a correlation between the
price after tax and a pumpkin like say "your order comes to a total of $8.25
(Shimanski)" see I am going to go NUTS if I keep this up.
At work I never had an interest in lawn dimensions until I started growing.
Now I look at a 1,000 square foot lawn and think "you know I could put my 705
Mettler there and the irrigation is already set" of course my boss would
think negatively about it.
My wife bleached one of my red fishing shirts and I found myself yelling
"all my clothes look like SQUMPKINS" which again caused a reply of a confused
stare.
As I drive home from work I have to keep myself from looking at the
Hollywood hills as I sit in traffic because I find myself weighing the
advantages and disadvantages of growing on valleys and hill sides.
I find myself not enjoying a casual conversation unless I somehow am able
to swing it over to pumpkins. Then have to be reminded that "not everyone is
interested in growing pumpkins" which receives a reply of why not and a blank
stare ?????

Well, I hope the germination of my plants on May 15 Th. will knock out the
lonesomeness of the whole winter without one of my best friends "THE PUMPKIN."
So tell me am I going nuts!!!!!!
Take care and GROW EM BIG....
