If you promise not to tell I will tell you how we use to catch gophers when I
was a kid. If you've never heard this, we would get a quart Ball fruit jar
and lid and fill the jar with water from one of the cemetary spigots. Then we
would walk through the cemetary looking for them. They like to sit on the
"shelf" of the tomestones just above the ground. Of course, when they would
see us they would hop down and run in their hole. We would then run to the
hole and dump the water in the hole and hold the jar over the hole. They
would soon run out of the hole into the jar and then you put the lid on the
jar and screw it on.
I am not positive about this part, but I think we walked 30 or so miles to
the nearest game preserve and released them unharmed. Not sure about that
though.
