Re: Day 3 Germination

I have germinated 16 out of 17 by filing seed edges lightly, soaking overnight in ice cube tray (works great for seperating them) and planting next morning in 2 litre milk carton at 85 degrees. I feel I would have had 17 out of 17 but the one that did not germinate was my 933 from last year - and I never have any luck with seeds from a pumpkin that was starting to rot inside.
There is no reason why you should not be able to get almost 100% germination rate.

I use this method, with excellent results:

Wrap seeds in soaking wet paper towel and put in saucedish covered with
saran wrap for one day, then take out and wring out the paper towel and put back in and cover again with saran wrap.....generally only takes 2 - 4 days. I have now germinated 22 of 27 pumpkins in less than 3 days and 2 of 5 squash seeds in 3 days..........Paul
