Yo Frank,
If you have planted them on a mound then they are in the ideal place for the
cold night air to just breeze through them and suck the moisture out..especially this time
of the year..and they die..have the same problem over here with runner beans and the
like. They should be covered at night to keep them out of the wind...just the smallest
breeze will kill them off.
