Thanks Don, Sounds like a plan to me.  I'm going with it, although for me to be able to see the top of the main vine may be nice, I'm not sure what I would be looking for.

Personally I like to just cover the main up TO the top so I can see what's going on with it. You can afford to lose a secondary but not the main. I cover the sides of the vine but want to see the top.
