Ohio Sympathy

Title: Message

Jeff, I feel for you.  Thank God I put all my plants in greenhouses.  I have not had to water any of my plants in the ground since it has rained so much here in central Ohio.  Then, yesterday, we had a record low of 32 degrees, beats the old record of 34 set in…get this…1897!  No snow, yet.

The Maston 570, planted April 14th, is huge…just about to lie down.  The other plants were not started until April 27th (Parks 720 and Hebb 990, door prizes at IPGA seminar 5/4) and May 4th (Moss 873.5 and Hebb 917, planted from IPGA seed stock at seminar).  They are in the alternate patch, so I will have to check on their status tonight.

I plan on starting two more tonight, figured it couldn’t hurt given the cold temps we have had.  We will see if the late plants can catch up since they (hopefully) won’t have the cold to stunt them.

-Gus

Unbelievable. May 20th and we have to worry about frost. 1st it was was my seeds germinating, then it's done nothing but rain here in Ohio, and now it's frost. What's next? My guess is rabbits or my 3 year pulling my 1062 Rivard out of the ground saying "Look daddy. See what I got for you?"
