Subject: hydro pumpkin update
my barrels arrived today. im getting them set up, i cut 1/3 of the
top off
the bottom barrel. i cut the lid off the top barrel and cut a large hole
in
the bottom of it. then i put the top barrel inside the bottom barrel,
so it
now holds more than 55 gallons. i took the lid and placed it inside the
top
barrel 1/3 the way down. im going to drill holes in it for the roots to
go
threw and a hole for a dip stick tube and a hole for the return from my
pond
pump on the bottom of the barrel. the dipstick tube will have a lid
and
also be used to add water and nutrients, and of course to check water
heighth. the water will be pumped from the bottom and returned over the
plant and back down into the water supply. the top part that has the
plant
in it is filled with rocks or some kind of growing media the whole
thing is
underground and only sticks up a foot or so. what do you all think .
