I am in North Carolina and this is my first year trying for a big pumpkin.
I have been doing allot of reading about the need for shading but I am not
sure what to use. (Plastic, tarp, etc.) I haven't found any information on
how long to leave the shad over the plant and pumpkin.
If anyone has any advice I would like to hear it.

You know who she's talking about Bob! <:^)>
I might suggest Merit for the ever-present SVBs and
some sort of "micro-climate" for the oppressive heat
and humidity. I personally use misters but also feel
shading to be at least as good.
I too have a number of seeds to offer including some
from the 2001 SC State Record Pumpkin. Let me know if
he wants them, Brian Fawcett
