The vine will run opposite the first true leaf about 70% of the time. For
the other 30%, try planting the plant at a slight angle to encourage it to
fall in the direction you want it to.
If this all fails you can still train the vine back again.

Happy pumpkins to all!
Since I screwed it up last year, and I am unable to find the answer I want
in the book I have on hand, I will through this out to the ether.
Which leaf dictates the direction the plant will grow? Is it the third
TRUE leaf, or it the third leaf , which would be the FIRST true leaf.. or is
it something else all together?
I got it right the first few years, but last year went bad.
