RE: Pumpkin growth direction

The vine will run opposite the first true leaf about 70% of the time. For
the other 30%, try planting the plant at a slight angle to encourage it to
fall in the direction you want it to.

If this all fails you can still train the vine back again.

Subject: Pumpkin growth direction

Happy pumpkins to all!

Since I screwed it up last year, and I am unable to find the answer I want
in the book I have on hand, I will through this out to the ether.

Which leaf dictates the direction the plant will grow? Is it the third
TRUE leaf, or it the third leaf , which would be the FIRST true leaf.. or is
it something else all together?
I got it right the first few years, but last year went bad.

  Thanks.
  Ben
