Re-send silt fence

I am resending this since I am not sure it went through. I appears that I have not received any emails from the list in several days.
I was wondering how long you should keep a silt fence up. Also do you use it as a perimeter for the patch? And is there any concern regarding the black material and getting too warm. I have also read about using orange construction fence for a wind block, but is it effective with all of the holes?
