National pride is good but international competition is where its at - think
WPC! The WPC has, for a long time, promoted all other vegetables, fruits and
flowers at its worldwide competitions. Remember, this is the "Olympics of
Gardening" and not just a pumpkin contest! The reason, growers from the
south can do better at watermelons; growers from the north, pumpkins. This
is a unified sport/hobby, first promoted by the WPC as a measure for mankind
and not so much a personal gratification passtime. Those who promote it
solely as a pumpkin contest have not scratched the surface of just what this
is about.

I'm very glad to see your enthusiastic interest in the "other" classes of
plants that bring the WPC dimension to light.

Very sincerely,

Ray Waterman/WPC Founder & President
