Frost protection down to 18 f
I have had good success protecting pumpkins down to 18 degrees with blankets.
Until all danger of frost has passed I make sure there are supports over the
pumpkin plants that will hold blankets. See photo of my frost protection in
Don’s book on page 71. I get the blankets at Flee Markets, Yard Sales or Tag
Sales as you may call them for $1 to $2 each. If you cover a plant after a
warm spring day it will grow most of the night. Plastic and row covers
provide very little protection.
Good Luck
