>Have had warmer than normal temps here in Edmonton this spring, but not too
hot for pumpkin plants like Chris is experiencing. BUT today, we have cold,
wet weather with daytime high of 38 or so F and threat of frost tonight. I
only have one "hill" where I have planted 7 plants, so I can at least do
preventative measures all in one place. I have a plastic covered wooden
"house" about 3.5' X 3.5' square X 3' high with an old window attached to
one top edge on hinges so I can lift it up or down. Inside, I have two 150
watt light bulbs in outdoor fixtures (like you use at Xmas outside for
spotlights). One has a red bulb and one is green (only because that is what
I already had). Tonight I covered the whole contraption wit a canvas tarp.
When I checked about an hour ago, the temp inside was a cozy 55 deg. F. I
don't know if this practical for those of you with many plants that are far
away from electricity.
