Decision time

I have 3 pumpkins left in my 4 by 5 foot cold frame. Things are getting
a bit crowded, and the painful decision time is fast approaching, (I can only
keep one). I would appreciate any advice on which one I should go with.

All were placed in the heated cold frame on May 5th and are healthy and
doing very well. No worries about frost. (I'm on Vancouver Island).

The stats on the 3 pumpkins:

1. "R.L." is my name for it. I got the seed from a fellow I've lost e-mail
contact with. Its from a split pumpkin (approx 500 lbs). Grandparents
836 Craven and 700 Waterman. Germinated April 30th. Vine is 10" long,
(excluding leaves), and has 11 leaves between 3" and 16" wide.

Even though it was germinated several days before the others, it is
considerably larger than the others and appears to have out-performed them
all along. I'm inclined to go with this one.

2. Holland 728 - 1996. (827*792). Germinated May 2nd. Vine 8", with 6
leaves between 3" and 10" wide.

3. Marcellus 449 - 1995. (804*990). Germinated May 4th. Vine 8" with 5
leaves between 3" and 14"wide.

I can probably wait another week or so on this. By then the decision should
be much easier.

The lid will have to come off the cold frame this weekend as I didn't make
it high enough. Last week I dug up (very carefully) another 728 and a
1006 (which were'nt doing as well), and gave them to a neighbour. Hey -
maybe if the 1006 develops, I can can cross pollinate with one of mine!
