Vine direction

I'm transplanting my peat potted plants to the pea patch today and I
can't remember which direction the main vine tends to grow. Is it in
the direction of the first true leaf, or is it in the opposite direction
of the first true leaf? I know i could probably make adustments if it
turns out be be growing in a direction I don't want it too, but I would
prefer not to mess with them too much once they are in the ground. I
know this is in the archives Duncan but I haven't the time to search
them right now.
