Germination Update from Minnesota

Finally, it is that time of year to start germinating AG pumpkin seeds in
Minnesota. Late the evening of April 30, I started the process of
germinating 15 seeds and 72 hours later, 13 have sent out a root. The
process I used to germinate the seeds is: 1) Soak them for two hours 2)
place them between wet paper towels 3) place the paper towels in an open
plastic bag 4) place the bags on a plate or two 5) place the plates on a
heating pad set on low.

The seeds which have germinated and the time it took before a root
appeared are as follows:

1) 858 Baird 97 24 hours
2) 858 Baird 97 32 hours
3) 696.6 Klema 97 32 hours
4) 452 Heyne 97 42 hours
5) 500 Noffke 97 44 hours -- Alice
6) 520 Heyne 97 55 hours
7) 550 Noffke 97 55 hours -- John
8) 496 Heyne 97 58 hours
9) 496 Heyne 97 58 hours
10) 739 Eaton 96 60 hours
11) 520 Heyne 97 60 hours
12) 460 Heyne 97 60 hours
13) 935 Lloyd 97 62 hours

The two seeds which have not germinated are a 741.5 Geerts 97 and 450
Noffke 97 (Collin).

The seeds are now in pots and I am awaiting for them to push the dirt
aside and appear above ground. Will let you know what 12 I finally plant
outside within the next 7-14 days.
