Here we go

Pumpkin people,
I know it might be a little late, but I'm planning on putting my seedlings
straight out after about a week inside and I don't have a coldframe for them
so I waited until I thought was the last minute. So, I started my 6 seeds that
I bought from P&P a few weeks ago, garaunteed to be from a pumpkin of more
than 800 lbs. I started them 3 to a plastic bag wrapped in moist paper towel,
and put them in my oven with just the light on. That was last night, and by
about 12 noon, two of them were splitting the shell that I had sanded
yesterday morning, that was after about 30 hours. I couldn't find large peat
pots so I'm going with the smaller ones, they're not going to be inside for
very long anyway, only about a week to ten days so I'm not really worried
about that, if they get to big I'll just put them out earlier. I have two
mounds that I am planning on thinning to one plant per mound eventually.
Around the mounds there are about a foot and a half deep trenches filled with
compost and dirt in layers, the trenches are about a foot wide as well. There
is also a large, old compost heap within 5 feet of one of the mounds, I am
counting on the plant from this mound to sap LOTS of nutrients from this heap.
Last year I started late without AG seeds, I was inexperienced and bought big
max seeds, they sucked and my pumpkin was only a hundred lbs. This year I am
trying to break 500lbs. that is my goal, wish me luck with my first serious
year with AG's, thanks for all of you and your advice, I'll keep you updated.
