I do not believe having your pumpkin weighed at a sanctioned weighoff
event is a prerequisite for world record status nor is any particular
date of weighing relevant. Steve Hoult's 962 world record squash wasn't
weighed until November of last year and was done so at an agricultural
expo in Canada. I would hope that a certified scale and credible
witnesses would be all the Guinness people care about and I can't see
them being too concerned to which pumpkin club you belong. I doubt they
want anything close to a repeat of the Don Black incident of 1993.
