This is certainly a central issue for the members of the Southern
Pumpkin Growers Association and one that GPC should address soon. We
have established the Southern Cup for one reason being the weigh-off
date problem. We accept weights from any grower up to one week after the
GPC weigh-off date. They are accepted from official weigh-offs or
Extension Service weighing where there is documentation. We have growers
in Florida at this moment with pumpkins on the vine! Let's get a
sensible set of rules before we are faced with the problem of a hugh
pumpkin ready to weigh two months before the weigh-off date.
