Survived 64 MPH Mn Wind

The weather in Minnesota has just been fantastic this Spring! The last
several weeks the temperature has been in the 70s, 80s, and one day it
reach 90 degrees. Warm temperatures usually mean big storms. Last Friday
one of those storms zipped through Minnesota with measured winds at 64 MPH
in Rochester. The wind was measured about 2-3 miles from my pumpkin patch.

My 13 pumpkins were protected by Wallo Water. No damage! The 13 plants
were transplanted from pots to the garden between May 10-13. So far, the
plants most vigorous are the 858 Baird, 696.6 Klema, and 452 Heyne.

I was going to plant only 12 plants, but I had 13 and could not throw one
away :), So, I planted all 13 and they are:

858 Baird (2), 696.6 Klema, 452 Heyne, 500 Noffke, 520 Heyne (2), 550
Noffke, 739 Eaton, 496 Heyne (2), 460 Heyne, and 935 Lloyd.

This next week I plan to remove the Wallo Water from each plant and then
cover each plant with a 6'x10' row cover. This eliminates most of the wind
damage while the plants are still young, protects them from any small
hail, and keeps the bugs off.
