A young lady in Australia (unknown to me) sent me the following e-mail
and has requested that I pass it on to the newsgroup.

The strangest (craziest?) thing off the top of my head is the Pumpkin
Regatta, but don't have the details handy. Maybe you could help her out,
 Wayne. Any other ideas?

This whole thing is terribly important to both Mandi and I as you can see
from the letter - for not only does Mandi stand a chance of winning a
ticket to a 'Smashing Pumpkins' concert but - ah! - she has promised to
 love me forever for helping.

Here's a few I had.

*Maximum growth for a twenty four hour period can be as much as 6.0 inches in
circumference.

*Maximum growth for a twelve four hour period can be as much as 3.750 inches
in circumference, an average of 5/16" an hour.

*Maximum growth almost always occurs between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

*The largest leaf can be 26" x 29".

*Ideal growing weather is a temperature of 88-92 daytime and 68-72 at night
with a dewpoint of 68-72 degrees.

*During rapid growth they will sometimes bleed, (ooze fluid).

*Excessive growth can cause a "Blow Out", (Pumpkin will split open),
especially common during hot humid weather.

*Improperly placed pumpkin can rip itself off the vine during rapid growth.

*Very rapid growth can cause them to sowly roll over while growing.
