Mike-I recognize many of these as "dead ends" with the grower not knowing or
not saying.In a few cases there is,unfortunately,outright deception.When I
get a chance in a few days,I will go over my records and help you where I can.
My experience is that some of the details from several years ago are hard
to get,but since I have started this "pedigree" tracking all serious growers
are planting only those seeds where the background is known.This will
continue,I'm sure.
As time goes on I have no doubt that all the heavy ones each year will come
from "known" parents.We are very close to that stage now actually.
I think we are all in this together and with a vast choice of seeds
available,increasingly each year the work,good management and yes,luck of
the grower is what really counts.
In general I think it doesn't matter much if a fruit is missing 4
generations back and we should use the records we have and procede from
