Vine split

Pumpkineers,
I have an urgent question to ask. I have my Holland 897 splitting at
the main vine/stem of the plant area. It is now around 4 inches long,
and is open all of that distance. Is there any hope of saving her? I
will save her at all costs.. I think I over watered, and her eyes were
bigger thanher stomach, so she split her jeans, so to speak. Please
email back quickly, I have tomorrow off, and cna address the problem
immediately. I just need a solution.
Should I wrap it with a cloth soaked captan paste solution and hope for
the best?
