tim, ridomil is not registered as a foliar spray for pumpkins or any
cucurbit, but ridomil/bravo can be used as a foliar spray and can be
used up to day of harvest. It will controll downy mildew very well, but
if you dont care that it is not registered than ridomil is far better
than bravo. florida pumpkin grower, David

Tim,
I guess it all depends on the part of the country you are in. Bravo is by
far the fungicide of choice with commercial pumpkin growers up North. Dr. Meg
McGrath of Cornell University ( probably the foremost expert on Powdery Mildew
on cucurbits) calls for a spray program using sprays of Bravo, Benlate and
Bayleton. Ridomil can control some pumpkin diseases but would be better used
with Bravo. Bravo by itself can control Anthracnose, Downy mildew, Cercospora
leaf spot, Gummy Stem blight ( black rot), Leaf blight, Scab, Powdery Mildew (
when used with Benlate and Bayleton). That's by no means perfect but not bad.
For phytopthora you must go to other things. I don't get phytopthora so it
doesn't concern me. Ron Wallace is the expert there. There are Bravo Copper
blends too, that knock out different things. Diseases that a florida grower
has could be different from a guy in Maine.
