Coincidentally I was talking with Harley Sproule on the phone just last
night and he said that he doesn't cover vines because he worries
about his vines rotting or getting soft spots or something like that.
So, his 968 and his 952 UOW were both grown without covering vines.
He DID say that he puts down a bed of about 8" of compost for the
vine to grow over, so he's getting great rooting.
